Perched on the Southwest corner of the Atrium is unit 212. Clear views from the balcony, living room, kitchen and dining room of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Art remind you of where you are. The Cathedral of Learning is visible from the primary suite's windows. All of this, including the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, UPMC hospitals, S Craig St's lively commercial area , and more, are just outside the secure building's doors. 2 integral garage spaces mean you'll never have to contend with challenging Oakland parking. Public transportation to everywhere is within a few blocks of the front door, so you'll rarely need your car. This is one of the most coveted, and walkable locations in the University area. The Atrium's lobby is iconic. Brick, live plants, a fountain, and magnificent natural light (through the roof glazing) are everywhere. There are multiple places to sit, a community room for large events, units available for guests (hotel-style, and for a fee), a pool, and a gym. It's one of the premiere buildings in the east end. Unit 212 just underwent a soup-to-nuts renovation"”while still retaining some of the original charm. In the entry, original parquet wood flooring ushers you in. A large coat closet and entry area make for an ideal landing spot. The living room and dining room both face south, share an attached balcony, and are sun-soaked. Modern, durable tiles are underfoot and tall ceilings lend volume to the space. The unit's pièce de resistance is the kitchen. The hub of the living spaces, the kitchen houses over-sized modern cabinetry, (in two-tones) with bookmatched stone countertops and backsplashes, and expansive workspaces completed by a waterfall-edged peninsula. Open to the dining room and living room, this is where you'll spend the lion's share of your time. An in-unit washer/dryer (side-by-side with a laundry tub) is in a hall closet which you pass on your way to the bedroom wing. Designed as an office, with a wall of glass and great Oakland views, bedroom 2 has the original parquet floor underfoot. An updated, tile-clad full bathroom is opposite. The middle area is currently used as an exercise space. It was previously (and could again be) a third bedroom. The primary suite has multiple views, one to the south (Carnegie Museum) and the other to the west (Cathedral of Learning and a lovely tree) and there aren't any large buildings nearby to obstruct the natural light. Sizable, the primary is a sophisticated en suite, with a walk-in closet. You are not allowed to rent units at the Atrium, part of its charm, and no pets are permitted. Windows, electric panel, a/c, heat pump, and nearly everything else were replaced recently. You just get enjoy.
